It’s a bit rainy today in New York City. (Whom am I kidding; it’s been pouring rain all morning!) I couldn’t help but get a bit wishful that I had a fun umbrella like the Vegetabrella to brighten up this rather grey day! Japanese designer Yurie Mano (for h concept) has turned a standard head of lettuce into an unexpectedly fun design concept for an umbrella. It’s your typical umbrella — it just happens to fold down into a floppy head of lettuce! The slight green-to-white gradient, combined with the crumbled edges that mimic crispy leaves and the packaging design is intended to mimic Japanese cartoons of wholesale lettuce.
Clever, silly, with the distinct mark of Japanese anime culture. Sells for 4,725 yen (which is about $60 USD — that’s rather pricey for an umbrella…) You can go here if you want to order it but don’t know how to order from abroad.
What do you think of the cartoon-like Vegetabrella?
